Case Study: Shopify theme migration
the brief:
south island honey producers; taylor pass honey co were in need of a refreshed website. the brief included meeting a number of key criteria, including; improved site speed, refreshed design and content to mirror new branding, and an enhanced user experience across multiple devices.
this design would then be replicated across their largest export markets, including the United States and the United Kingdom.
happy with their current e-commerce platform providers; Shopify - the project was to migrate and update the website seamlessly to a new 2.0 theme.
before:
with a dominant black background, the pre-existing website design associated a very dark and moody feel to the brand. with new branding and revised communication pillars, this was a perfect opportunity to update the design to reflect lighter aesthetics that were not only more pleasing to the eye, but also relevant to speak to new brand pillars; ethical sustainability and the way to wellness.
overall, the functionality of the website was acceptable with the exception of site speed. by removing the homepage video, optimising all images, font selection & investigating integrations, we were able to enhance site speed to contribute to a more positive user experience.
after:
with a clean and crisp new look, the client’s website now truly reflects their new branding, is running at optimal speed, contributing to a seamless & positive user experience. through integrating new app Stockist; customers are now able to easily source their closest store to purchase their favourite honey with a simple punch-in of their postcode.
